What makes Hunger Free Kansas so unique is our non-hierarchical approach to tackling the issue of food insecurity. Among this democratically structured network of public/private partners are:
Advocacy organizations
Local coalitions
Foundations
State health institutions
Colleges and universities
Corporate partners
Initial funding and management for this initiative is provided by the Kansas Health Foundation. Ending hunger in Kansas is the first major health challenge KHF is investing in under its new strategic framework. To learn more about the way KHF views these challenges, please visit our website.
Collaboration is at our core
By coming together with Hunger Free Kansas, organizations are able to align work, clarify who is doing what and identify what—if any—gaps exist within current services. More importantly, through this spirit of collaboration we can solidify the belief that we’re all in this together, working toward a shared goal of ending hunger in Kansas.
At an organizational level, Hunger Free Kansas walks alongside its partner organizations providing support by:
Guiding the process of setting a mutually beneficial policy agenda
Tracking progress on agreed upon goals
Communicating the group’s work throughout the state
Ensuring a sustainable flow of financial resources through relationships with the private, governmental and philanthropic sectors
